BBC Radio 4 (1967-)

BBC Radio 4 is a radio station owned and operated by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that broadcasts a wide variety of spoken-word programmes including news, drama, comedy, science and history.

Radio 4 replaced the BBC Home Service on September 30, 1967, when the BBC renamed many of its domestic radio stations, in response to the challenge of offshore radio.
