British Broadcasting Corporation (1927-)

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a British public service broadcaster. Its headquarters are at Broadcasting House in Westminster, London, and it is the world's oldest national broadcasting organisation and the largest broadcaster in the world by number of employees. Formed as the British Broadcasting Company Ltd (BBC) in 1922. John Reith became Managing Director. On December 31, 1926, the company was dissolved and its assets were transferred to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on January 1, 1927. Reith was appointed the first Director-General of the BBC.

On January 16, 1929, the first copy of The Listener was published.

From March 9, 1930, the majority of the BBC's existing radio stations were regrouped to form the BB National Programme and the BBC Regional Programme.
