BBC tv (1960-1964)

After a series of test transmissions and special broadcasts that began in August 1936, the BBC Television Service officially launched in November 1936. Following the launch of ITV in 1955, the service continued to show popular programming, including comedies, drama, documentaries, game shows, and soap operas, covering a wide range of genres and regularly competed with ITV to become the channel with the highest ratings for that week. On October 8, 1960, the service was renamed BBC tv and introduced the science fiction show Doctor Who on November 23, 1963, which went on to become one of Britain's most iconic and beloved television programmes.
